Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Program Information Pack (PIP)

A key component of the review is the self-assessment of the program. This self-assessment focuses on strategic thinking and planning to support the program’s systematic goals and intellectual and academic endeavors. It is expected that the self-assessment will help the program with an opportunity for an investigation and a critical assessment on scholarly development and pursuits. The self-assessment should concentrate on its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges that involve the program’s endeavors in the last 6 years and plan over the next five to ten years. There would be a narrative and summative report at the end of the self-assessment, which is called self-assessment report. Along with the self-assessment, the composition of program information pack (i.e., program report, academic fields’ reports and faculty members’ CV) would be in progress, the deadline of which is due two months prior to off-site review.

The PIP should reflect the school’s culture and must include the following elements:

lProgram report - Vision, mission, history, administration & organization information, facts and figures etc. This should cover the program’s establishment, structure, strategic goals, current activities and relationship with the university and the external environment.

lAcademic fields’ reports - This document describes and evaluates several specific academic fields of the program for in-depth analysis, in terms of priority research areas, research teams, research achievements, collaborations and external engagement activities. This critical assessment should include a review of how this program sees itself in a national and if appropriate, international context.

lFaculty members’ CV - This is a reflection on and evaluation of individual researchers’ research focus, publications, awards, educational & research contributions and external engagement activities.

For a well acquaintance of the format of PIP, please refer to section program information pack.
