IEU has been committed to the evaluation and study of academic programs and provides professional support services throughout the program review. It coordinates preparation and support before, during and after reviews to allow the panel and program to focus on the substance of the review.
Before the Review
lCompose the International Evaluation Unit, guide practice of review, oversee the review process, and ensure it is aligned to the University’s strategies and priorities.
lStep into introduce appropriate scheme, make specific plans for different programs, ensure its implementations, work out counter-measures to address the problems.
lMaintain the six-year-cycle review schedule, taking previous reviews and ongoing risk assessments into consideration.
lSelect the panel members with the aid by the program and establish the panels for off-site review and on-site review.
lCollate panel members’ views, produce the review agenda and determine the review visit date, ensure availability of key individuals, and make necessary arrangements including room bookings and hospitality provision (accommodation, refreshments, and meals).
lProvide the panel with necessary materials, including evidence, data, additional documentation and other materials as required.
lSupport the panel and the program in all communications, for example formal invitations to potential members to join the panel and requests to key staff to provide statements to support the review.
During the Review
lCommunicate with panel members and program, coordinate off-site review and provide related supporting files for off-site reviewers.
lBased on bibliometrics, analyze faculty members’ research achievements, collaboration and contribution, submit the bibliometrics analysis to the on-site reviewers.
lCollate off-site reviewers’ questionnaires, have a run-through of the main points.
lCarry out on-site review, provide related services.
lMaintain a record of all costs associated with the review, reimburse the airfares and other related traffic expenses of on-site reviewers.
After the Review
lRemind the panel of production of the final review report.
lProvide the program with support to implement major improvements recommended in the review report, assist program to compose annual report in both Chinese and English.
lReview and revise the process as required to ensure it is fit for purpose.
